Shaolin for Kids & Teens
Overview
Kids Shaolin (6 - 11 years old)
Our children’s classes use games and exercises to develop physical fitness, coordination, and concentration. This practice builds mutual respect and self-confidence through teamwork, setting objectives, and achieving goals. Kids Shaolin also heavily emphasizes fundamentals, basics, and foundation, which are all essential skills to the development and furthering of a student's martial arts training. It is important for students to build martial morality, good habits, and proper training practices early on in the learning process.
The age group for Kids Shaolin is from 6 - 11 years old, but we often give special permission to students who show talent and potential to attend the Teens and Adult Shaolin Kung-Fu classes in addition to the regular Kids Shaolin classes, at no extra charge.
Teens Shaolin (12 - 16 years old)
When we teach Teens, there is a heavier emphasis on taking the training to the next level, particularly in setting deadlines for testing dates and advancing up in the ranks. It is an especially perfect age for developing strength, flexibility, and speed. Teens are also taught to begin analyzing techniques and encouraged to be creative with what they learn, combining the material into their own individually created forms, sequences, and matching sets. It is at this level that students start to build an awareness for effectively applying techniques in practical, sparring types of situations. This includes developing intelligent strategies and learning the consequences of certain actions. Teens who show potential in the training may be chosen for special training in certain weapons or forms, geared towards performances and competitions.
