Sparring for Shaolin/Taijiquan

Overview

Sparring at YMAA

This is an introductory-level sparring class for both Shaolin and Taijiquan students alike. Sparring classes will help to solidify the techniques, stances, and applications learned during forms practice during regular classes. It will also help to build your conditioning in speed, reaction, and endurance, all of which are very crucial components for any martial artist looking to effectively fight.

Sparring will help bridge the gap between practicing solo and practicing with an partner. It is important to develop a sense of awareness for your opponent and build natural reaction, muscle memory, and intelligent fighting strategies if you intend on ever using martial arts in sparring situations.

The class will be open to both YMAA Students and outside students. However, the absolute minimum skill level requirement is a solid foundation of punching and blocking. We reserve the right to refuse students who are unqualified.

Take your training to the next level and build your sparring foundation today!
