Taijiquan Applications

Overview

Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) is very beneficial to your health, but people generally do not know that Taijiquan has martial arts roots. It is an accepted fact that Taijiquan came from the Wudang Mountain in China, along with other internal martial arts styles such as Xingyiquan and Baguazhang.

Taking your Tai Chi practice to the next level involves learning about the martial arts roots and applications. For every effective martial arts technique, style, and system, there are always 4 categories: kicking, punching, wrestling (grabbing), and Chin Na (joint-locking). In this course, you will learn how to effective apply these techniques from movements taken from the Yang-style Taijiquan Long Form.

Topics include:

  • Chin Na for fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulder, neck.
  • Similar Chin Na techniques on the legs.
  • Takedowns and Throws.
    • Bump from inside.
    • Trip to outside.
    • Foot sweeps.
    • Leverage from Chin Na.
  • Kicks and hand strikes.
  • Applications for some representative Taiji postures.
