A New Year for New Beginnings
2008 is an exciting year for YMAA, filled with many changes and new beginnings, including the realization of the YMAA California Retreat Center, the start of the 10-year training program, and the passing of leadership and responsibilities to new generations. At YMAA Boston, we will be continuing the annual tradition of summer seminars. While Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming will be teaching seminars at the YMAA Retreat Center in California, YMAA Boston will be holding seminars taught by senior instructors and students. Through our continued efforts to teach and preserve traditional martial arts, we will achieve a superior level of quality, refinement, and deepness in the art. We welcome everybody in joining us in this endeavor.

Many Chinese martial arts styles include training with the double-edged narrow blade straight sword, and all of them share the same sword principles, theory, and basics. Understanding the sword and its fundamental techniques is absolutely essential to fully utilizing this complex weapon. The straight sword is considered one of the most difficult weapons to master.
August 16th - 17th, 2008
The saber is a broadsword and is considered the root and foundation of all short weapons. About 60-70% of saber techniques are shared with any other single short weapon.
