Yao Gu
August 12, 9am-4:30pm
(1.5 hour lunch break)
Yao Gu (搖鼓 Yáo Gǔ, “Shaking the Drum”) is a White Crane sequence with elements of Tiger style created by Grandmaster Cheng, Gin-Gsao. The sequence was designed for Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming's classmate, the son of a butcher and the only well-fed student while most others were skinny and undernourished.
Yao Gu techniques can help students train explosive Shaking Jing (martial power). Short, sweet and powerful, Yao Gu is relatively easy to learn. This 6-hour workshop will cover the sequence, fighting applications, basic Tiger Claw Hard Qigong, and review of White Crane power generation utilizing the upper body. The workshop is suitable for all ages and experience levels. (Having a basic background in martial arts is a plus but not required.)
